Underwood celebrates getting Ole

Monday, June 10, 2013 – Carrie Underwood celebrated her fifth anniversary as an Opry member on Friday by closing the first of two shows with a special segment full of her music.

After a video presentation highlighting five years of Underwood Opry performances ran for the audience, Underwood said, "It's so hard to believe it's been five years, but what an amazing five years it has been. Just watching that video, I was getting a little teary-eyed, thinking about how I felt when all of that was happening. And I still feel that blessed and that honored to be on this stage."

Opry Vice President and General Manager Pete Fisher presented the Opry member with a commemorative print marking the occasion, saying, "You have far surpassed the high expectations we had when we brought you into the family, and we know it is going to continue into the future. You are not only so good for country music, you are so good for the Grand Ole Opry, and you are so good for America. We appreciate all that you do."

Underwood was inducted as an Opry member by fellow member Garth Brooks before a sold-out audience in May 2008. Her next appearances on the Opry are set for July 5-6.

Underwood always sings well, no matter how her songs are arranged, but it's a true treat to hear that voice without much of the big production that usually accompanies it. ...
CD review - My Gift It makes logical sense that Carrie Underwood, arguably mainstream country music's best pure vocalist, would make a Christmas album. And make no mistake about it, this is a 'Christmas' album, as opposed to a 'holiday' release. These 11 tracks are nearly all spiritual in nature. Therefore, you won't hear about Santa, reindeer or even toys under the tree. The only truly secular track is "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas," which is not – by a long ...
CD review - Cry Pretty Carrie Underwood's life was reading straight from the storybooks: one of the few American Idol Winners with ongoing success; a professional athlete for a husband; a beautiful baby boy. The string of great fortune turned sharply in 2017, when Underwood began the unfathomable experience of three consecutive lost pregnancies. This was atop a frightening fall at her home that ended with her face in nearly 50 stitches. Sharing these moments with her fans makes the beamingly-beautiful singer ...
