AMA sets line-up for awards show

Wednesday, September 11, 2013 – Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, Holly Williams and Richard Thompson are among the performers at the Americana Music Association's Festival and Conference 12th Annual Honors & Awards Show on Sept. 18 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.

The event will include performances by Robert Hunter, Old Crow Medicine Show, Dr. John, John Fullbright, Shovels & Rope, Milk Carton Kids, JD McPherson, Kelly Willis & Bruce Robison, Duane Eddy, Harris and Crowell, Thompson and Williams.

Original Buffalo Springfield members Stephen Stills and Richard Furay will also come together to play the band's For What It's Worth, and third-generation musician Holly Williams will offer a tribute to her late grandfather Hank Williams Sr.

The Honors and Awards Show will be hosted by Jim Lauderdale and will feature a house band led by Buddy Miller with Don Was, Larry Campbell, Marco Giovino and John Deaderick.

Presenters include actor/musician Ed Helms, filmmaker Ken Burns, Rosanne Cash, Alejandro Escovedo, Jerry Douglas, Aoife O'Donovan, Billy Bragg, The Civil Wars' Joy Williams, Wilco's John Stirratt and Pat Sansone, First Amendment Center president Ken Paulson, Tift Merritt and the BBC's Bob Harris.

Lifetime and Special Achievement honors will be presented to Dr. John, Duane Eddy, Robert Hunter, Old Crow Medicine Show, Stephen Stills, Chris Strachwitz and Hank Williams (accepted by Holly Williams).

The event is part of the Americana conference, set for Sept. 18-22. The awards show airs live on AXS TV, NPR.org, Sirius/XM's "Outlaw Country" and WSM at 8 p.m. eastern. "Austin City Limits," will broadcast an edited special Nov. 23. Voice of America and Bob Harris of BBC2 will broadcast overseas in the following weeks.
