CBS "Sunday Morning" visits with Chesney

Wednesday, October 30, 2013 – Kenny Chesney delayed feature on on CBS' "Sunday Morning" will air on Nov. 3.

Slated for earlier this fall, but pulled to save for sweeps, the segment finds Chesney taking the crew with him for a trip to Boston Medical Center to meet beneficiaries of his Spread the Love Fund, which supports ongoing care for amputee victims from the Boston Marathon bombing and the end of his No Shoes Nation Tour.

"I knew when they decided to come back, they weren't looking for a ride on the gator," Chesney says of his second appearance on the Sunday morning news magazine. "I've grown a lot as an artist, as a person since that first one - and I think that maybe intrigued them. A lot of soul searching goes into what we do, and what we're doing in Boston in terms of the city, the fans and the Fund, especially."

"Watching what happened on tv, as the entire nation did, really threw me," Chesney said. "But meeting these amazing people who're putting their lives together, hearing their stories and seeing how they approach getting their lives back...I was moved beyond words."

The segment captures road life, including the annual yearbook distribution, a tradition started in 2002 and how it feels when Chesney hits the stage.

The loss really belonged to the fans, as the original "Here and Now" record Chesney was supporting was a beauty – from the stirring "Knowing You" to the snarky "Wasted", ...
CD review - Here and Now For many years now, Kenny Chesney has been the number one yacht country artist; one never spotted far from an ocean or without an adult beverage in his hand. However, this album's title track expresses a much deeper perspective on life. "I must've sat on a dozen islands/Watched the sun sink into the sea." Previously, island living was the reason for life. Now, life's purpose is described as much more internal than external. Call it trading that pirate flag for a little more mindfulness. ...
CD review - Songs for the Saints Kenny Chesney's "Song for the Saints" is a step in the right direction for the popular country star. Inspired by the Hurricane Irma disaster, which hit Chesney personally as it destroyed a house he owned in the U.S. Virgin Islands, these songs are more serious and heartfelt than typical Chesney music. Best of all is "Love for Love City," a reggae duet with Ziggy Marley incorporating steel drums into an inviting island mix. It's followed by a cover of Lord ...
