Taylor Swift remains number one for third straight week

Wednesday, August 8, 2007 – Life is becoming ho hum for Taylor Swift. For the third straight week, Swift's self-titled debut is numero uno on the Billboard country album chart. Sales increased for Swift by 2 percent to 36,271 units. The disc is 13, which she considers her lucky number on the all genre top 200 chart.

Swift was one of two artists in the top five to experience an increase in sales. The other artist was Tim McGraw.

The disc is now 41 weeks old and originally debuted at third on the charts in October 2006. Swift has been a top 10 seller for 30 weeks with the disc certified gold in just 13 weeks (for sales of 500,000) and is now platinum (sales of over 1 milion units).

Swift wrote or co-wrote every song, making her the first female in country music history to do so on a platinum-certified, debut release.

Kind of like an Avril Lavigne for the teen female country set. Sophomore slump? There's no indication of that. Swift once again writes her material - all 13 songs here with help sometimes from Liz Rose, Colbie Caillat and John Rich. Swift writes of what she knows about - relationships and teen love come and gone in songs speak to her fans. ...
