Charlie Daniels hosts Xmas affair with Taylor Swift, Rodney Atkins, Montgomery Gentry, Chris Young

Wednesday, August 8, 2007 – Charlie Daniels recruited Taylor Swift, Rodney Atkins, Montgomery Gentry and Chris Young to round-out the talent line-up for the 11th Annual Christmas For Kids Benefit Concert Nov. 19 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

"Anytime we get a chance to perform with Charlie Daniels, it is an honor," said Troy Gentry. "He is one of our favorites in this business, and to know we are helping Charlie raise money for kids to have a Christmas is even better."

The Christmas For Kids Organization has been in existence for more than 20 years providing special children the opportunity to celebrate the holiday season. Events such as the Tour Bus Tour, which will happen on Dec. 17, raise money and allow folks to visit the home-away-from-homes of more than 50 stars and celebrities at the Hendersonville Wal*Mart.

The money raised at both events is used to escort children from 25 different schools for a day-long excursion. The day consists of a chauffeured trip from their school aboard a country music star's luxury tour bus to a local Wal*Mart where they are accompanied by a volunteer to participate in their own Christmas shopping spree. On the return trip home, the children will participate in a Christmas carol sing-along.

His friends also include country singer Aaron Tippin (Christmas Time Down South) and folksinger Jewel (Blue Christmas). Daniels also made sure everybody knows full well that this is a Southern Christmas music collection. Song titles include Christmas Time Down South, Mississippi Christmas and A Carolina Christmas Carol. ...
CD review - Preachin', Prayin', Singin' DVD Charlie Daniels has his Southern rock personality (exemplified by The Devil Went Down To Georgia) and he also has his spiritual side (as he's known to join Billy Graham crusades now and again). But when the fiddler/guitarist first arrived in Nashville, he befriended folks like banjo great, Earl Scruggs, and his two sons, Gary and Randy. These three players appear with Daniels during this mainly bluegrass set, along with Del McCoury, The Whites and Mac Wiseman. Bluegrass gospel songs make up ...
