19 years later, Brooks is back

Wednesday, May 11, 2016 – Yankee Stadium, in its two incarnations, has played host to everyone from Babe Ruth and popes to Billy Joel. No country act ever played there. Until now.

Garth Brooks announced this morning that he would play Yankee Stadium on July 9, his first New York City show since a 1997 Central Park concert.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. eastern, on May 20. The show is part of Brooks' world tour, which started in September 2014.

And it's quite an undertaking - four CDs of covers - Country Classics, Classic Rock, Blue-Eyed Soul and Melting Pot, an amalgam of country, rock, soul and folk; the two-CD set, "The Ultimate Set" and a DVD of his live performance in Vegas. ...
