Stapleton plays Charlottesville concert

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 – Chris Stapleton will participate in a concert for Charlottesville, Va. being organized by the Dave Matthews Band.

In response to the recent events in Charlottesville in which a woman was allegedly hit and killed by a white nationalist who participated in a rally, Dave Matthews Band will host an evening of music and unity that will be free for members of the Charlottesville and University of Virginia communities through an online request process. The concert is Sept. 24 at UVA's Scott Stadium in Charlottesville.

"A Concert for Charlottesville" also will feature Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, The Roots, Cage the Elephant and special guests.

While tickets are free, attendees are encouraged to make a donation to the "Concert for Charlottesville Fund" at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Beneficiaries of the fund will include victims of the events in Charlottesville on Aug. 11 and 12, and their families, first responders, and organizations devoted to the promotion of healing, unity and justice locally and nationwide.

Tickets will be allocated initially to residents of the greater Charlottesville area and also to UVA students, faculty and staff. An online ticket request period is currently underway at www.concertforcharlottesville.com and will end on Monday, Sept. 11 at noon eastern. A limited number of tickets will also be available at a walk-up, no service charge box office at John Paul Jones Arena on Friday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. eastern

CD review - Startin' Over Chris Stapleton's "Starting Over" release is one of those rare beauties of an album, where your favorite track may change from day to day. All of 'em are just that great. It is, simply put, Stapleton's best full-length to date. You may love the title track, which puts flesh and bone onto the 'better luck next time' wish. Then again, the spiritual truth contained within the Creedence Clearwater Revival-esque "Devil Always Made Me Think Twice" might also ...
CD review - From A Room: Volume 2 There is no bigger artist in country music today, perhaps even in American music, than Chris Stapleton. His appeal reaches beyond just the commercial country fans for his gritty bluesy approach. 2015's "Traveller" set a high bar, which was met by this year's release of "From A Room: Volume 1," which won Album of the Year in the 51st CMA Awards. Stapleton also garnered the Male Vocalist of the Year for his second time. Now seven months after that release, "From ...
