Hosking has wonderful Sunrise

Rick Teverbaugh  |  August 30, 2009

Rita Hosking has one of those voices that just seems to get directly at both the heart of the song and of the listener. Her vocals don't so much command attention as they just invite you in with such warmth and sincerity as to make assent seem like the most natural thing to do.

Her new album is titled Come Sunrise and from that song through the last the album will take you on a most enjoyable ride through some of life's triumph's and personal tragedies. There are certainly some strong folk elements here to intermingle with her obvious mountain girl roots, but there's no denying this is country music.

Yet she is much more than another wonderful voice. The 11 songs are all Hosking originals. This is her third album and certainly the experience of the first two had doubtless padded the confidence needed to play this music with such assurance.

My favorite songs in addition to the title cut are, Let 'em Run, She's Waiting and Precious Little. But really any cut would be a welcome addition to any Americana format radio program and I hope many will strongly consider this work. Find out more about her here. Tell me what you think.
