A Sammy Klaus Christmas (Big Hit, 2012)

In between the opening reading of 'Twas The Night Before Christmas and the concluding Louisiana-accented take on the same poem, Kershaw strings together a homey set of musical Christmas lights. Most of these are familiar and popular songs, although the included Up On The Housetop doesn't get nearly enough recoded love. It may be a children's sing-along, but it certainly brings back wonderful Christmas memories for many. There is also the almost obligatory 'why can't be Christmas 365 days a year' song with That Spirit of Christmas, as well as one rocking blues entry via Santa Claus Is Back In Town.
Kershaw produced the album himself and sings it with plenty of gusto and feeling. Department store gift wrapped presents may look sharp, but nothing compares to homemade ones, like this one from Sammy Kershaw.
