Buller, Tuttle top IBMA nominations

Wednesday, July 25, 2018 – Molly Tuttle and Becky Buller led the IBMA Announces 2018 nominations today with six apiece.

Ricky Skaggs, Paul Williams, and Tom T. and Dixie Hall were named to the IBMA Hall of Fame.

"Live From Here" host Chris Thile, a member of Punch Brothers, was named as one of the Distinguished Achievement Award Recipients

Special Consensus and The Del McCoury Band/The Travelin' McCourys earned five nominations apiece.

Awards will be handed out Sept. 27 in Raleigh, N.C.

Buller is nominated for Song of the Year, Gospel Performance of the Year, Recorded Event of the Year (with three different nominations), Female Vocalist of the Year, and Fiddle Player of the Year, while an individual nomination goes to band member Ned Luberecki for Banjo Player of the Year. Buller is the first woman to win IBMA's Fiddle Player of the Year and the first to win both Female Vocalist and an Instrumentalist of the Year Award. 2017's first-ever woman

Guitar Player of the year, Tuttle, is nominated for Emerging Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Recorded Event of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Guitar Player of the Year.

CD review - The Perfect Gift Fiddler Beck Buller has sure stocked her album with plenty of A-list talent, an all-star group that includes Vince Gill, Dan Tyminski and Ricky Skaggs. While much of this album is bluegrass or bluegrass-accented, there's also a lot of sonic variety, too. It's sure to please country music fans, while it spices up the overall sound with lots of musical surprises. Perhaps the most unexpected offering is "Mary Rocked Her Baby," which finds Buller mixing it up black gospel style ...
CD review - When You're Ready One of the most celebrated acoustic guitarists working within the Americana field, Molly Tuttle is two-time International Bluegrass Music Association Guitarist of the Year, the first female to be so honored. "When You're Ready" is Tuttle's first full-fledged solo album, having previously recorded an EP ("Rise"), albums with both the Tuttles and The Goodbye Girls, and a long-ago recording with her father, Jack ("The Old Apple Tree"). ...
CD review - Rise EPs are a strange breed. Some are no more than demos for a larger work. Others are a hodgepodge of material recorded here and there and sold to help pay for gas money to the artists' next live gig. And some, like Molly Tuttle's "Rise", are exquisitely constructed messages in a bottle, to sum up the artists' current stage of development. Tuttle could have easily named this EP, "Let's Get on With It" or "Watch What I Do Now," but "Rise" ...
