Crowell changes it up with "Triage"

Monday, May 10, 2021 – Rodney Crowell will release "Triage" on July 23, he announced today.

The first single is "Something Has To Change," which came out today. The album will be released by Crowell on his RC1 label.

"Near the end of 2018, I began scribbling the first few lines that would become songs on yet another album. With monotheism, climate change and cultural divide foremost on my mind, adequately framing the healing power of Universal Love became my primary goal," Crowell said on his website.

"I'd learned from experience that writing and recording songs with the desire to make a difference, be it small or large, in an increasingly complex world is a tricky business. Steering clear of self-importance while, at the same time, believing deeply in what one has to say, calls for striking a near perfect balance. With Irish poet/playwright Samuel Beckett's sobering mantra 'fail better' planted firmly in mind, I called producer Dan Knobler for help recording the songs."

CD review - Texas Rodney Crowell is a rare breed of a country songwriter. "Brown & Root, Brown & Root" includes an historical introduction from ...
CD review - Christmas Everywhere Rodney Crowell's "Christmas Everywhere" is a (mostly) melancholy collection of songs, with Christmas time as its setting. It's a strong set of carefully worded tunes, set to widely varying musical backings. All 12 tracks are originals, so if you're seeking out 'Rodney Crowell performs holiday favorites,' this is certainly not for you. However, if you're a little tired of all the trappings associated with the winter season, you'll find an empathetic soul in Crowell. ...
CD review - Close Ties One song on Rodney Crowell's "Close Ties" album is called "I Don't Care Anymore." It's a song when a person comes to term with aging, where what others think of you simply doesn't really matter much in the grand scheme of things. However, if Crowell truly didn't care about others' opinions, he wouldn't have created such a fine album. He cared enough to give us the very best, to borrow an advertising slogan, and we should especially thankful ...
