Eli Young Band announces "Love Talking"

Friday, March 11, 2022 – Eli Young Band will release "Love Talking" (The Valory Music Co.) on June 3.

The title track already has been released with "Break Up In A Bar" now out as well.

EYB also will launch the 52-city Love Talking Tour with dates through late August.

"We really wanted to find the positivity in what we got out of the last two years, so that was one of the main goals for this album," said lead singer Mike Eli. "There was a lot of unknown that was written into some of the music we created during that time, but we all lived it so deeply. We wanted to offer something uplifting with our music."

"Break Up In A Bar," a three-and-a-half-minute response to saying goodbye to a relationship, offers that positive twist on a typically heavy topic while serving as one of the only outside cuts on the album, having been penned by Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson and Hunter Phelps.

"Right away, you could just hear the melody in the song from the top and know, 'okay, this is a special one.' And the spin – it's one of those songs lyrically you just wish you would have thought of," said Eli, who wrote seven of the nine songs. "We know that that's always the first rule – if you hear something that you wish you would have thought of it's worth that second listen. We just started playing it in our live show, and it's funny to see the audience because they want to know it so bad. That's a good sign."

Eli wrote more than 150 songs in the time since band released "This Is Eli Young Band: Greatest Hits in 2019." On "Love Talking," he joined forces with Nashville ace writers Jimmy Robbins, Laura Veltz, Josh Osborne and Jon Nite. The release also contains EYB's hit "Love Ain't," which first appeared on "This Is Eli Young Band: Greatest Hits" in 2018. The musical band of brothers – Mike Eli, James Young, Jon Jones and Chris Thompson – lay a strong foundation for today's arrival of "Break Up In A Bar" as current single "Love Talking" earns early praise.

The track list is:
Love Talking (Mike Eli, Eric Arjes, Jeffrey East)
Lucky For Me (Mike Eli, Jimmy Robbins, Laura Veltz)
Break Up In A Bar (Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson, Hunter Phelps)

CD reviews for Eli Young Band

CD review - This is Eli Young Band - Greatest Hits The Eli Young Band has reached a career milestone of sorts with the release of their "This is Eli Young Band: Greatest Hits" album. EYB has an impressive portfolio of music to date, with music spanning from the band's genesis with Mike Eli and James Young joining forces as Eli & Young while students at the University of North Texas. Rounding out the band with members Jon Jones and Chris Thompson, ELB was born and released its first album "Level" in 2005. ...
CD review - Fingerprints Eli Young Band confused, alienated and even lost some of its fans with the 2015 release of a fully slicked up pop EP; "Turn It On." "The fans wanted another record that was the sound and the kind of songs that were the old-school Eli Young Band" said lead singer Mike Eli. They have responded with "Fingerprints," their first full length album since 2014's "10,000 Towns." Though clearly not as blatantly pop as the downright danceable EP, ...
CD review - Turn It On With the release of "Turn It On," the Eli Young Band brings new music about girls, love, and...disco. Singer Mike Eli, who co-wrote all four songs, is in fine voice, solidifying the EYB sound. The title cut, written with co-founder James Young, with its strong beat and up-front vocals, is tailor-made for listening while driving fast. With its "driving" beat and sing-along chorus, speeding tickets may increase. "Plastic" is about appreciating a girl who is ...
