Rucker stages Riverfront Revival festival in hometown

Wednesday, April 27, 2022 – Darius Rucker will bring the Riverfront Revival festival to his hometown of Charleston, S.C. with Brothers Osborne and Jimmie Allen on the bill for the October event.

Set for Oct. 8-9 at North Charleston's Riverfront Park, the family-friendly will feature curated offerings of Lowcountry food, libations, art and culture along with music.

Trampled By Turtles, Charley Crockett, The War and Treaty, Radney Foster, Wild Rivers, Larry Fleet SUSTO, Nikki Lane, Lauren Jenkins, Maggie Rose and more across two stages from 1-11 p.m. daily.

"Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Charleston," said Rucker. "For years now, I've had this bucket list dream of bringing together a bunch of friends to perform in a way that also showcases this incredible city and all it has to offer. I can't wait to see it become a reality this fall, and I hope the fans are as excited as we are."

"Riverfront Revival will be the perfect culmination of feel-good music across genres set against the beautiful backdrop of the Cooper River," said SRE Entertainment Partner Rob Lamble, which is helping stage the event "We're thrilled to bring a new fall music tradition to the Holy City, and are honored to be doing so with Darius Rucker and his team."

"Darius is a home-grown star with a genuine love for his state, making him an incredible ambassador for South Carolina," notes Duane Parrish, Director of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, which is supporting the festival. "We are all looking forward to celebrating South Carolina's Lowcountry and welcoming thousands of visitors to this one-of-kind music festival in October."

Part of Rucker's passion for his hometown includes a desire to give back to the community, instilled by his late mother who was a nurse at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He has raised millions of dollars for the hospital throughout his career and will continue to do so via Riverfront Revival, with $1 of each ticket sold supporting the MUSC Arts in Healing program.

General admission tickets start at $124.50 per person plus fees. VIP tickets start at $399.50 per person plus fees. A Rucker fan pre-sale starts May 2 with general admission tickets up for sale on May 4.

CD reviews for Darius Rucker

CD review - Carolyn's Boy Darius Rucker has referenced his South Carolina roots numerous times in his career, but his first solo release in six years is a more direct tribute to his late mother, Carolyn, and not just in the title. Raised on church music, soul singers and country songs at home growing up, Rucker includes more than a hint of each here. "Old Church Hymn," featuring Chapel Hart, evokes those childhood Sunday mornings in the pews, in a deep gospel tone that blossoms into an organ-driven, rousing singalong. ...
CD review - When Was the Last Time Darius Rucker is so darn likeable, he likely gets away with creating subpar music more than most. However, "When Was the Last Time" is a consistently good album, which is as respectable as it is likeable. Rucker knows how to sing crowd pleasers, like the fun and funny "Count the Beers" and the all-star collaboration "Straight to Hell," which also features Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Charles Kelley. He shines brightest, though, on the more serious songs. ...
CD review - Southern Style Although opener "Homegrown Honey" has a few hip-hip sonic elements fueling it, "Southern Style" is a fairly traditional - well, as traditional as Darius Rucker can get - album. "Homegrown Honey," along with the title cut and "Half Full Dixie Cup," make a play for Rucker's Southern credentials, and for the most part support these claims. Rucker is an easygoing vocalist, and this latest effort goes down smoothly. It's still taboo for country ...
