Sister Sadie member goes solo on project
Produced by award-winning bassist Tim Surrett (Balsam Range), the set features a cast of backing musicians and singers that includes award-winning banjo player Kristin Scott Benson, Garth Brooks and Dolly Parton fiddler Jimmy Mattingly, bluegrass couple Kenny and Amanda Smith, as well as a featured vocal.
Roberts is lead singer and guitar player with the all-woman bluegrass quintet, Sister Sadie. She includes several covers. "Landslide" and "Luxury Liner."
Roberts is the daughter of Danny Roberts, a founding and current member of The Grascals, the award-winning Music City bluegrass quintet that gained early attention backing the legendary Dolly Parton.
Roberts got her start singing in church at a very early age and began her journey as an instrumentalist at age four with fiddle lessons. Today, she also plays guitar, mandolin and piano. Roberts later toured with her father, Danny Roberts and with the Tom T. and Dixie Hall-backed Daughters of Bluegrass. Within the last year, Roberts released four singles after signing with Mountain Home Music Company. She also received the IBMA Momentum Vocalist of the Year and IBMA Vocal Group of the Year awards.
