Tucker is "Ready As I'll Never Be"

Friday, October 21, 2022 – Tanya Tucker today released a single "Ready As I'll Never Be," her first original music since the release of her 2019's acclaimed, two-time GRAMMY-winning album, "While I'm Livin'."

The track, written by Tucker and Brandi Carlile, serves as the end-title of the new documentary "The Return of Tanya Tucker - Featuring Brandi Carlile" (Sony Pictures Classics), which opens today in New York and Los Angeles.

Produced by Carlile and Shooter Jennings and mixed by Trina Shoemaker, "Ready As I'll Never Be," is a reflection of gratitude and regret with Tucker (vocals), Carlile (piano, background vocal) and her backing band of Phil Hanseroth (bass, background vocal), Tim Hanseroth (background vocal), John Schreffler, Jr. (pedal steel), and Matt Chamberlain (drums, percussion) helping out.

Nominated earlier this week for a Critics Choice Documentary Award for Best Music Documentary, "The Return of Tanya Tucker - Featuring Brandi Carlile" is about the exploration of an unexpected friendship.

Opening nation-wide on Nov. 4, the feature-length film, directed by Kathlyn Horan, follows Tucker's bumpy ride back to the top as Carlile encourages her to push past her fears to create a new sound and reach a new audience. The writing, the experimenting, and refining of this new music mixes with all that came before – using rare archival footage and photographs to delve into Tucker's history, beginning in a single wide trailer in Seminole, Texas.

CD review - Sweet Western Sound Tanya Tucker once again employed Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings to produce this album, and her producers also had a hand in writing some of its 10 songs. The album, the follow-up to 2019's "While I'm Livin'," which won the GRAMMY for Best Country Album, opens with the distinctive voice of Billy Joe Shaver singing about Tucker on "Tanya," and ends with the rodeo song "When The Rodeo Is Over (Where Do the Cowboys Go?)." It's still a little ...
CD review - In These Silent Days Brandi Carlile many times plays the wise (elder?) sage on "In These Silent Days," an album filled with folkish music and much good advice. She sings amazingly well throughout; she could do that without even trying. There are plenty of memorable songs, too, which makes it amount to a fully satisfying album. The best track is also its shortest. Titled "Stay Gentle," it's one written a little like a sequel to Lori McKenna's "Humble and Kind. ...
CD review - Live from the Troubadour It feels a little strange evaluating a live Tanya Tucker album now, as she's an aging country singer that had her first hit with "Delta Dawn" way back in 1972 at the tender age of 13. She's well past 13 now, and with the help of Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings (who both produced her 'comeback album,' "While I'm Livin'"), is experiencing a welcome career resurgence. This live album was recorded at The Troubadour, and Tucker jokes that it's ...
