Smith tries to hit the ("Oil) Spot" with "Better Boy"

Friday, February 17, 2023 – Nate Smith dropped two new tracks - "Better Boy" and "Oil Spot" - from his upcoming self-titled, debut album today.

The Californian's debut arrives April 28 via Sony Nashville.

Smith made his late-night TV debut Wednesday evening on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," where he performed his Platinum-certified, number one single "Whiskey On You."

The song also topped the charts on Canada's country radio chart for six weeks – making the song the longest running number one country debut by a male vocalist in their chart history.

Smith said of the upcoming album, "It has been so much fun making this album, and I really believe in every one of these songs. Releasing an album has always been a goal of mine, but at the end of the day it's really not about me. It's about being able to reach other people with music that means something."

Smith said he wanted his music to be a "conduit of hope."

"I'm not trying to be cool, or reinvent the wheel or chase musical trends,"he said. "I'm going after the heart of the matter."

CD reviews for Nate Smith

CD review - Nate Smith Nate Smith has a wonderful, quivering voice. It's a voice often pushed to its limit, though, because so many of the songs feature pounding drums and roaring electric guitars. It's a whole lot of pounding and roaring because it – like many (too many?) contemporary country albums – is extra-long. The deluxe edition, in fact, sports 26 songs and clocks in at nearly an hour-and-a-half. All this loud music is just a bit much, though, by the time all's said and done. ...
