Townes takes home a Juno
Tuesday, March 14, 2023 – Tenille Townes won a Juno award in her native Canada on Monday for Best Country Album for "Masquerades."
Townes took the honor over "Way Back" from High Valley, "God Ol' Days" from The Reklaws, "Bronco" from Orville Peck and "Honkytonk Revival" from Jade Eagleson.
"This is truly insane!!," Townes tweeted.
"You guys are the reason I'm standing here @TheJUNOAwards, getting to do the thing I love, and I love all the ways Masquerades has brought us closer together. These songs are pages from my journal and you gave me the courage to share these pieces of my truth," she further tweeted.
The Contemporary Roots Album honor went to The Bros. Landreth for "Come Morning."
The Traditional Roots Album award went to Pharis & Jason Romero for "Tell 'Em You Were Gold."
The Junos are Canada's version of the GRAMMYS.
