Strait plays two nights in Texas

Tuesday, April 11, 2023 – George Strait will stage a two-night-only event in his home state, with back-to-back concerts at Fort Worth's Dickies Arena on Nov. 17-18.

Caitlyn Smith will open both shows.

The two-night stand is a reprise of Strait's two nights at Dickies Arena in 2022, which both sold out within hours of going on sale to the public. Tickets to the 2023 shows go on sale to the general public Friday at 10 a.m. central time via

The news follows the recent announcement that Strait will team up with Chris Stapleton to perform one-off stadium dates this year in Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, Milwaukee, Nashville (two nights) and Tampa. Little Big Town will open all shows.

Since his record-breaking Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, Strait has performed for limited engagements outside of his 36-and-counting Strait to Vegas shows at T-Mobile Arena, including headlining both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival in 2021 plus his 31st appearance at the Houston Rodeo in 2022.

Smith has written songs for Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Meghan Trainor, John Legend and Garth Brooks. Her 2018 album, "Starfire" and 2020's "Supernova" led to her self-produced project "High" last year. A deluxe album with six new songs, "High & Low," comes out April 14.

In fact, Smith had initially considered breaking the album down into high and low song sections. Ultimately, she just mixed it all together. Smith, known by many mostly as a successful Nashville songwriter, presents herself as an especially ...
CD review - Supernova A lover of the cosmos and all things mystical, Caitlyn Smith continues with her astronomy-themed discography on her sophomore album, "Supernova," the follow up to 2018's "Starfire." The opening track, "Long Time Coming" starts out with a punishing drum beat and morphs into a heavily distorted guitar solo, which suggests angry heartbreak and its accompanying frustration. However, Smith bills the song as a "little anthem of hope to myself," having just ...
CD review - Honky Tonk Time Machine At this stage of his nearly four-decades-long career, George Strait sure knows his sweet spot. Take a look at the cover of his 30th studio album, and it's understood that it's the honky tonks that are part and parcel of the tall Texan. Not to mention the title. And that means, Strait is going to be singing about drinking, loving and faith in styles ranging from honky tonk to straight ahead country to Tex-Mex stylings to ballads. You're also going to hear fiddle and pedal steel ...
