The Castellows, Dover, The Steel Wheels unveil new music

Friday, February 9, 2024 – Sister act The Castellows are out with a seven-song EP, "A Little Goes A Long Way." The Castellows, comprised of sisters Ellie (lead guitar), Powell (banjo) and Lily (vocals), wrote/co-wrote six of the seven songs on the band's first project to release via Warner Music Nashville/Warner Records. Trina Shoemaker (Sheryl Crow, Nanci Griffith, Queens of the Stone Age) produced. The neo-traditionalists hail from small rural Georgetown, Ga. where they grew up on a cattle farm.

Dalton Dover put out a three-song EP, "Take Me Home: Covers." The release includes "Take Me Home, Country Roads," the Alabama song, "Mountain Music" and Vince Gill's "Go Rest High On That Mountain." Gill helps out the Georgia native with backing harmonies.

Virginia-based Americana band The Steel Wheels released "Sideways" via the band's own Big Ring Records. Produced by Sam Kassirer (Lake Street Dive, Langhorne Slim, Josh Ritter), the release contains 11 songs. The group consists of Trent Wagler (vocals/guitar/banjo), Jay Lapp (guitar/mandolin/ vocals), Eric Brubaker (fiddle/vocals), Kevin Garcia (drums/percussion/mallet keyboards), Jeremy Darrow (bass).

The quintet hail from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, but journeyed north to Maine to again record with noted producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Elephant Revival). Kassirer also produced their 2017 "Wild As We Came Here." Steel Wheels is band leader Trent Wagler (lead vocals, ...
