Whitters, Rector join forces to "Color Up My World"

Friday, March 15, 2024 – Hailey Whitters and Ben Rector released a new single, "Color Up My World," a banjo-laced duet that the duo collaborated on to sing together on Dan + Shay's "Heartbreak On The Map Tour."

Whitters said, "The minute I heard this song I was instantly sold. It just makes me feel good. Ben is insanely talented, and I was honored he asked me to be a part of it. Every time we sing it, it makes me smile and it's been fun watching the audience respond in a similar way on tour."

Rector said, "When Dan + Shay asked me to go on tour this spring, it was an easy yes. I've known them for a long time and have immense respect for their music and careers, and when I learned Hailey Whitters would also be on the bill, I was ecstatic. I've followed her music since I first heard it, and I thought it would be fun to perform a song together on the tour I'm trying to do more musical things sheerly for fun."

"One day at a co-write I grabbed my friend Austin's banjo, and the opening few lines of this song just popped out. It was one of those special songs that came together really quickly and felt like it could be an authentic fit for both Hailey and me and something that would be a ton of fun to play together. I'm really proud of how it came together and am so excited to release it into the world."

Last summer, Whitters released a six-song EP I'm In Love via Pigasus / Songs & Daughters / Big Loud Records.

CD reviews for Hailey Whitters

CD review - I'm In Love Hailey Whitters smartly plays with words on the title track to this six-song EP. "He's in a Chevy/And I'm in love," she explains contrastingly. With its upfront mandolin part, the track nicely resembles Whitters' hit, "Everything She Ain't," which is reprised on this release - albeit more acoustically. It may not be as conceptual as Whitters' full-length, "Raised," was, but this smaller offering nevertheless covers familiar and enjoyable Whitters territory. ...
CD review - Raised Hailey Whitters' "Raised" album is very much a biographical collection. From the title cut to the extended family sung about during "Big Family," Whitters sings again and again about her relatives and upbringing. She doesn't have to say the words 'small town' for the listener to know without a doubt she's telling us about country living. It's also an album built upon solid, traditional instrumentation, which makes it all the better. ...
CD review - Living the Dream Hailey Whitters has reissued her "The Dream" album as "Living The Dream" with five bonus collaboration songs. With these added treats, it makes a good album even better. The weakest of the new additions is "Fillin' My Cup" with Little Big Town. LBT is gaining a reputation as a drinking song group, when that vocal act's best songs go so much deeper than merely celebrating adult beverages. "How to Break a Heart," which features fellow A-level ...
