Combs, Brown release new music

Friday, June 14, 2024 – Just in time for Father's Day, country star Luke Combs is out with "Fathers & Sons," with the title expressing the theme of the 12 songs on the release. "Fathers & Sons" was recorded entirely live and features Combs most personal songwriting to date, as he reflects on his own experiences being a dad to his two sons and the bond between parents and their children. The disc closes with "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," but a totally different song than the baseball standard. Jim "Moose" Brown (keys), Sam Bush (mandolin), Stuart Duncan (fiddle), Mark Hill (bass), Josh Hunt (drums), Joey Landreth (electric guitar), Steve Mackey (bass), Josh Matheny (Dobro), Jerry Roe (drums), Jonathan Singleton (acoustic guitar), Bryan Sutton (acoustic guitar) and Charlie Worsham (acoustic guitar) play on the release.

Blanco Brown is out with his latest EP, "Cedar Walls & Whiskey," the second EP release out of a three-part project. The man behind the hit "The Git Up," includes four songs, including the Diane Warren penned "Snapshot."

Four decades and counting, bluegrass group the Lonesome River Band are out with "The Winning Hand" on Mountain Home. This is the first release with the band's newest configuration. No original members remain. The group features Sammy Shelor on banjo, Jesse Smathers and Adam Miller sharing the lead vocals backed by Kameron Keller dan Mike Hartgrove.

CD review - This One's For You Too Luke Combs has gotten a lot of life out of his album "This One's for You," which includes his breakthrough hit "Hurricane," as well as the popular single "When It Rains It Pours." This deluxe edition includes five new tracks, many of which are just as strong as the original 12. "Houston, We Got a Problem" includes a smart lyric highlighting specific details about that big Texas city. Even though it has all these famous landmarks, it doesn't have ...
CD review - This One's For You Five years ago, when beer-drinking, truck-driving-in-the-country country songs were en vogue, Luke Combs' full-length debut would have fit right in. In 2017, when pop music rules the country market and male singers are more likely to wear a stylish jacket instead of a flannel shirt, Combs is positively refreshing. "Hurricane," the first single and first top five hit of Combs' career, sounds like a typical Jason Aldean ballad at the onset, but then builds into something more ...
