Acuff drops three songs

Friday, August 2, 2024 – Colby Acuff dropped "Plastic Horses" today from his upcoming disc "American Son," out Aug. 23.

The track tells a tragic tale of addiction, loss and perspective.

"I've always been a big fan of songs that are secretly sad – specifically songs that have a very upbeat tempo and at first glance seem just like a jam, but in fact are very devastating," said Acuff. "'Plastic Horses' was written as a ballad, but Eddie Spear had a great idea to make the track have a 60's rock feel, which I fell in love with on impact."

Acuff also today released "Bruised" and "Hello Rain" from the upcoming project.

Acuff and producer/engineer Eddie Spear (Zach Bryan, Brandi Carlile) Combined for 16 songs on "American Son."

"If you make me break it down, I think it's four different pillars," he said. "It's the state of the union and humanity. It's mental health. But it's also hope and love. You can't dive too deep into the darkness without those two things, or you'll never get out."
