Jinks revisits "Same Kind of Crazy As Me"
Thursday, October 24, 2024 – Cody Jinks revisits his song, "Same Kind of Crazy As Me," as a duet with co-writer and artist, Ward Davis.
Of the song out today, Jinks said, "I'm glad we finally put out the version that probably sounds more like the hotel room version. I love this version."
Ward said, "Well, same kind of crazy is what it is. Me, Cody and Greg Jones were in a bar and I said 'You MFers know why I love yall so much? Cause yall the same kind of crazy as me.' The next morning, in a hotel in Nashville, with hangovers and regrets to spare, we wrote 'Same Kind of Crazy As Me'. Cody had a hit with it a few years back, and for as much as it's his song, it's ours, and I'm tickled as shit we got to cut it together."
The duet arrives on the heels of "Backside of 30," the re-release of Jinks' 2012 album, "30," which was released last month via Late August Records.

CD reviews for Cody Jinks
Like all artists worthy the name, hard-living country outlaw Cody Jinks has matured as a singer-songwriter and human. Some bad habits have been left behind, but Jinks hasn't abandoned what has brought him success.
While he tends to limit himself to writing of current circumstances — life on the road, pursuing music and changing behavior — he does so very well. Featuring fellow road warriors Blackberry Smoke, "In My Blood" lays it out:

Cody Jinks stands defiantly among the generation that grew up with country music, but chose a louder, more aggressive outlet for their creative expressions. As a teenager, the native Texan learned country licks from his father, but channeled his high school angst and anger through the lens of heavy metal and thrash. When his band broke up in 2004, Jinks took a musical hiatus, emerging a year later as a more overtly country artist and releasing his debut solo album, "Collector's Item," in 2006. ...
It's challenging coming up with enough superlatives to describe Cody Jinks' "The Wanting." Yes, it surpasses the traditional country sonic test. Just listen to the twangy electric and steel guitar on "Bite Of Something Sweet." Although taking the latter advice literally, may lead to a diabetic coma, Jinks delivers its words with an enjoyably conversational tone, the song - both musically and lyrically - feels like something Merle Haggard might have written and sung. ...
