Jinks pays tribute to Frizzell; sets 2025 tour

Monday, December 2, 2024 – Cody Jinks announced both a new album, a tribute to the late honky tonk legend Lefty Frizzell, and his 2025 Hippies and Cowboys Tour.

"Cody Jinks Sings Lefty Frizzell" will be out this Friday with nine songs.

"It's a really divided time in our nation," Jinks said. "But we've always been the type of band where we've wanted everybody. And so next year, it's going to be a statement of, 'Man, we're just an American band.' That's what we are. We're a honky-tonk band. We're American music. You have country rock, rhythm and blues, all in one. We're hippies, we're cowboys, and we're everything in between."

The upcoming tour includes major stops in Philadelphia, New York and Boston. Tickets will be available starting with a fan club presale beginning on Tuesday. Additional presales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning on Friday at 10 a.m. local time at codyjinks.com.

CD reviews for Cody Jinks

CD review - Mercy Cody Jinks stands defiantly among the generation that grew up with country music, but chose a louder, more aggressive outlet for their creative expressions. As a teenager, the native Texan learned country licks from his father, but channeled his high school angst and anger through the lens of heavy metal and thrash. When his band broke up in 2004, Jinks took a musical hiatus, emerging a year later as a more overtly country artist and releasing his debut solo album, "Collector's Item," in 2006. ...
CD review - The Wanting It's challenging coming up with enough superlatives to describe Cody Jinks' "The Wanting." Yes, it surpasses the traditional country sonic test. Just listen to the twangy electric and steel guitar on "Bite Of Something Sweet." Although taking the latter advice literally, may lead to a diabetic coma, Jinks delivers its words with an enjoyably conversational tone, the song - both musically and lyrically - feels like something Merle Haggard might have written and sung. ...
CD review - After the Fire Jewelers are trained to recognize flaws in personal ornaments, but even one of these experts would find no faults in this Cody Jinks' recorded work. It's a nearly perfect collection comprised of songs you'll want to listen to again and again. "Yesterday Again," for example, speaks about wanting to go back in time to re-experience better romantic days. It's the sort of lyric and melody (speaking of traveling backwards in a time machine), one can easily imagine Kris ...
