Taylor Swift posts largest sales
The sales by Swift were the biggest for a country CD since The Eagles' "Long Road out of Eden" began with 711,000 in November 2007. Since Nielsen SoundScan started in 1991, only five country acts enjoyed larger sales than Swift: Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw and Rascal Flatts.
On the digital side, "Fearless" sold 129,000 downloads, the fourth-largest week for a digital album since SoundScan tracked them in 2004. The first week debuts by Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" (288,000), Jack Johnson's "Sleep Through the Static" (139,000) and Kanye West's "Graduation" (133,000) had larger sales.
Swift had the only country CD to go top 10, but three more made the top 20: rascal Flatts at 15 with "Greatest Hits Volume 1," Kenny Chesney at 18 with "Lucky Old Sun" and Sugarland at 20 with "Love On the Inside."
