Arista signs Jason Michael Carroll
Tuesday, October 31, 2006 – Jason Michael Carroll, 28, signed a record deal with Arista. The first single for Carroll is Alyssa Lies, a story about child abuse. Don Gehman produced the disc, which is slated to arrive in early 2007, according to the label.
In addition to recording songs by Craig Wiseman, Terry McBride, Jim Collins, Brett James and Rivers Rutherford, Carroll wrote or co-wrote four songs, including No Good in Goodbye, a duet with Jewel, co-penned with Jewel and Shaye Smith.
Carroll grew up in North Carolina the son of a fundamentalist preacher in a home where secular music was strictly taboo. Carroll eventually caught the eye of Hootie & the Blowfish manager Rusty Harmon by way of a local TV talent competition and ultimately led to Carroll recording for Arista.
