Jason Michael Carroll rises
Monday, January 8, 2007 – Jason Michael Carroll hit a sales record with his first single, "Alyssa Lies," on SoundScan's Digital Song chart. "Alyssa Lies" entered the chart with 13,857 purchased downloads, scoring the highest country new artist debut sales since the inception of the chart.
"Alyssa Lies" was the fastest rising debut single by a male country artist in 2006.
The 28-year-old singer/songwriter from North Carolina teamed with longtime John Mellencamp producer Don Gehman (Hootie & The Blowfish, R.E.M., Nanci Griffith) for his upcoming 11-song debut disc, "Waitin' in the Country," which drops Feb. 6.
