Urban loses ARIA to Cassar-Daley

Monday, November 30, 2009 – Keith Urban returned home to Australia for the Land Down Under's version of the Grammys. But it was Troy Cassar-Daley who won for the best country album category at the ARIA awards, nudging out Urban for his fourth career win.

Urban will continue his stay by launching a tour in December.

During the show, he performed his Australian and American hit Kiss A Girl, from his latest CD "Defying Gravity." The performance can be seen on YouTube.

"It felt amazing to be back in Australia opening the Arias," said Urban. "I loved being able to hear so much new music and catch up with old friends - and what a great way to kick off our return tour to Oz in December. I'm especially looking forward to the fact that we're touring here (Australia) with the exact staging and production that we've had on the road all this year in the U.S and Canada."

Urban will launch is "Escape Together World Tour" in Melbourne, Australia on Dec. 11 at The Rod Laver Arena. The entire production, seen on the U.S. leg of the tour - two stages, lighting and video screens will make its way across the Pacific Ocean to Australia in time to be assembled for the tour's debut.

CD review - THE SPEED OF NOW Part 1 It's getting tougher and tougher all the time to justify categorizing Keith Urban's music as country. "The Speed of Now, Pt. 1" doesn't help. Urban follows "Coming Home" with "Never Comin' Down," which is introduced with a funky bass line ...
CD review - Ripcord Even though Keith Urban's single, "Wasted Time," borrows more than a little sonic sensibility from electronic music, there's still an upfront banjo solo. And this is how it's always been with Urban. He may play the part of the guitar hero at times, and even revealed his eclectic musical knowledge as a judge on American Idol, but Urban will always be a country boy at heart. And boyish good looks and talent have taken this country boy far, too. The wonderfully titled ...
