Rucker hosts concert for St. Jude Hospital

Tuesday, March 9, 2010 – Darius Rucker will host the "Darius and Friends" concert in Nashville at The Wildhorse Saloon in Nashville on June 7 to benefit the research and care of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis. The concert, being held during CMA Music Week, will include performances by Rucker with additional performers announced at a later date.

Tickets to the event will go on sale Saturday, March 13. To purchase tickets, visit www.wildhorsesaloon.com or call 615-902-8200.

Rucker has visited patients at the hospital and performed at multiple events in support of the hospital's lifesaving mission. After touring the facility in 2009, Rucker vowed to create a personalized event that would raise money and awareness for St. Jude. "This was a chance for my friends and I to do something during CMA Music Fest week that is for the fans while drawing attention to St. Jude and their incredible efforts," said Rucker. "It's going to be a great night of music and stories."

All proceeds from ticket sales will help St. Jude continue its mission of finding cures and saving children fighting deadly diseases.

"Homegrown Honey," along with the title cut and "Half Full Dixie Cup," make a play for Rucker's Southern credentials, and for the most part support these claims. Rucker is an easygoing vocalist, and this latest effort goes down smoothly. It's still taboo for country ...
