Swift enjoys second best selling CD in U.S.
Wednesday, December 8, 2010 – Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" is the second best selling CD in the U.S. behind Susan Boyle's "The Gift." Swift sold 182,000 units of the disc, down 24 percent. "The Gift" churned 272,000 units sold, up 3 percent.
Swift had the only country disc in the top 10.
Overall album sales in this past chart week (ending Dec. 5) were 9.22 million units, down 10 percent compared to last week (10.24 million) and down 9 percent for the same week of 2009 (10.14 million). Year-to-date CD sales are 281.24 million, down 13 percent from last year's same point (321.85 million).
