Nelson helps West, Texas
Thursday, April 18, 2013 – Willie Nelson will do a benefit concert later this to help the fire department of West, Texzs, near where he grew up. The towns suffered a catastrophe this week when an explosion at a fertilizer plant killed 15 people, injured about 175 and damaged many properties.
""West is just a few miles from my hometown of Abbott. I was born and raised here and it was my backyard growing up. This is my community. These friends and neighbors have always been and are still a part of my life. My heart is praying for the community that we call home," Nelson said.
Proceeds from Nelson's previously scheduled performance at The Backyard in Austin on April 28 will now benefit the West Volunteer Fire Department.
