Clark, Ballard top releases
Clark is out with "Big Day in a Small Town," mixing more traditional and modern country sounds on her debut for Warner. Clark has gained much acclaim as a songwriter for the likes of Miranda Lambert, Reba McEntire, The Band Perry and Jennifer Nettles. She also received much praise for her 2014 release "12 Stories." The new disc contains 11 songs with small town characters and females dominating the themes.
Ballard is out with "El Rio," his fourth release. The lead single from the 11-song release is "It All Started With a Beer." The Michigan native had a hand in writing two of the songs. Chris Stapleton contributed a few songs as well. The release also includes Bob Seger's "You'll Accomp'ny Me," from his "Against the Wind" disc.
Tara Thompson releases a five-song EP, "Someone to Take Your Place." The self-described hillbilly, who is a cousin of Loretta Lynn, opts for a more traditional sound with some modern touches. The title track is the first single with the true story "Pregnant at the Prom" and "Jail" also on the release.
