Simpson, Price, Carter join Farm Aid line-up

Wednesday, June 22, 2016 – Willie Nelson, Neil Young, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews will be joined by Sturgill Simpson, Margo Price and Carlene Carter at this year's annual Farm Aid event, intended to raise money for farmers.

Farm Aid 2016 will be held Sept. 17 in Bristow, Va. Others on the bill include Alabama Shakes, Jamey Johnson, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats, Insects Vs Robots and Tim Reynolds, who is playing with Matthews.

"Folks are educating themselves about where and how food is grown-they're hungry for the truth," said Nelson. "Family farmers bring us good food, protect our soil and water, and strengthen our country. The Farm Aid concert is a day for us to honor that truth and keep working for family farmers."

Tickets on sale to the public on Monday, June 27.

Nelson, Young and Mellencamp organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985 to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and funds to keep farm families on the land. Matthews joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001. Farm Aid has raised more than $50 million.

Most of all, it centers around Willie Nelson, one of the most iconic artists in the history of music, who at 90, has given bluegrass treatment to some of his favorite musical creations. Songs on "Bluegrass" include some of his most recognized, including "Good Hearted Woman" (co-written with Waylon Jennings), "On ...
CD review - Don't Know A Thing About Love Who doesn't love and respect Willie Nelson? Willie, even at age 90, could sing the phone book – perhaps he has – and it would be worth hearing. Willie's latest is a tribute to the songwriting of Harlan Howard, the dean of country music songwriters, who passed away in 2002. Howard once described country music as "three chords and the truth." Howard wrote hundreds of country hits during his career. Nelson and producer Buddy Cannon picked 10 to showcase here, ...
