For Catherine Britt, the fans know the words

Wednesday, March 28, 2007 – RCA recording artist Catherine Britt experienced an unusual concert moment for an artist who has not released an album or had a hit single. Over the weekend, while performing at a show for KRTY at Club Rodeo in San Jose, Cal., Britt closed her 45-minute set in 400-plus fans with her self-penned current single, "What I Did Last Night."

The crowd sang back the words to an unexpecting Britt. Nate Deaton, general manager of KRTY, asked Britt if she'd do an encore for the crowd and sing "What I Did Last Night" again. She dedicated the second performance to Deaton, and when she got to the chorus, Britt stopped singing because she was too overcome with emotion at the response from the crowd. The audience sang the entire rest of the song back to Britt.

"This was by far one of the Top 10 greatest moments of my life," said Britt. "As a performer you work so hard to get a response from the audience, and when you get that kind of response on a song that you wrote and that you poured your heart and soul into, it is an unbelievable feeling."

A native of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, Britt's main musical influences include Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton. Her U.S. debut album is set for release later this year.
