Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts top country American Music Awards nominations
Tuesday, October 9, 2007 – Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Carrie Underwood took two nominations each for the American Music Awards announced Tuesday.
In the country category, nominees for male artist are Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley. Female artist nominees are Martina McBride, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood.
Band, duo or group nominees are Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn and Rascal Flatts. Album nominees are: "Let It Go" by McGraw; "Me And My Gang' by Rascal Flats and "Some Hearts" by Underwood.
Jimmy Kimmel hosts the 35th annual awards to be broadcast Nov. 18 from Los Angeles. Dick Clark started the awards as an alternative to the Grammys.
Nominees first were chosen based on record sales with ballots the sent out to a sampling of 15,000 people around the U.S. The top three vote getters became nominees.
