Bentley gets "Drunk on a Plane"

Monday, April 7, 2014 – Dierks Bentley released a new single, "Drunk On A Plane," the second from his "Riser" CD.

Written by Josh Kear, Chris Tompkins and Bentley, the track finds the narrator is left standing alone at the alter but finds the strength to forge ahead on a solo trip to Cancun.

"I have never been jilted at the altar, but I have had a marriage proposal rejected....all you can do is pray there's a good return policy for the ring, get drunk and carry on," joked Bentley. "Whether I have the band with me on stage or it's just me and my guitar, the fans love this song, and they catch on to the choruses immediately. It's a fun song, but when you really listen, there's also an underlying lonesomeness, which is what makes it different that a lot of the other uptempo songs I've put out."

"I Hold On" was the lead single from the disc and Bentley's 11th number one as both an artist and songwriter. Bentley will kick off his headlining 2014 Riser Tour on May 9 in Charlotte.

That most evident by the dominating textured beats. Producer Ross Copperman and Bentley seem hell bent on injecting odd meters and sounds, sharp detours from past efforts. Unfortunately, the atmospheric beats muddy up the vocal delivery on "Freedom," a song that stretches far too long at almost four minutes. Bentley also channels U2 with its ...
CD review - Riser Change was in store for Dierks Bentley when it came to recording his seventh album, "Riser." On the personal front, he lost his father and added to his family, clearly affecting the subject matter of his latest. On the musical front, he traded long-time producer Brett Beavers, producer of every disc except "Up on the Ridge," for Ross Copperman, who has enjoyed more success as a writer, including several previous tracks for Bentley. Bentley embraces current trends in country ...
