SNL revokes Wallen appearance due to COVID protocols
Wednesday, October 7, 2020
– Morgan Wallen will not be the featured musical guest on Saturday Night Live this week due to his violating of COVID-19 protocols, he said today.
"I got a call from the show that I will not be able to play due to COVID protocols," he said via his Instagram page. "My actions this past weekend were pretty short sighted, and they obviously affected my long-term goals and dreams."
Wallen was at the University of Alabama last weekend and appeared without a mask at parties, according to videos. He has not tested positive for COVID-19.
"I respect the show's decision because I know I put them in jeopardy, and I take ownership for this. I'd like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down," he said, adding, "And on a more personal note, I think I have some growing up to do. You know, I think I lost myself a little bit. I tried to find joy in the wrong places, and I don't know, it's left me with less joy. So, I'm going to try to work on that. I'm going to take a step back from the spotlight for a little while and go work on myself. I wish I could have made country music and my fans proud this Saturday, but I respect the decision once again."
SNL producer Lorne Michaels said he would extend an invitation to Wallen another time.

You wouldn't want to hear from your doctor that they substituted book learning for feel. But music may well be different, and Wallen does have some legitimate country cred - he hails not far from the Tennessee Cumberland Gap and went to Kenny Chesney's high school (What an alumni party that would be!). ...
