Midland goes on the road; Whitters opens

Monday, May 3, 2021 – Midland is back on the road again.

The trio announced today fall dates on The Last Resort Tour.

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 7 for the tour that will make stops in Nashville, Chicago, Boston and New York. Singer/songwriter Hailey Whitters will open the shows.

The announcement follows a short run of outdoor shows Midland and Whitters performed in Texas last month with Flatland Cavalry.

Midland - Mark Wystrach (lead vocals, guitar), Jess Carson (guitar, vocals), and Cameron Duddy (bass guitar, vocals) - released a soundtrack album, "The Sonic Ranch," in March about early recordings of the band. The group also released "Live from the Palomino" in 2020 and two studio albums, "On the Rocks' In 2017 and "Let It Roll" in 2019.

Whitters released a deluxe version of her 2020 album "The Dream" as "Living the Dream." Brent Cobb, Jordan Davis, Hillary Lindsey, Little Big Town, Lori McKenna and Trisha Yearwood contributed vocals to the new songs.

CD review - I'm In Love Hailey Whitters smartly plays with words on the title track to this six-song EP. "He's in a Chevy/And I'm in love," she explains contrastingly. With its upfront mandolin part, the track nicely resembles Whitters' hit, "Everything She Ain't," which is reprised on this release - albeit more acoustically. It may not be as conceptual as Whitters' full-length, "Raised," was, but this smaller offering nevertheless covers familiar and enjoyable Whitters territory. ...

CD review - The Last Resort Midland make it sound easy with the new "The Last Resort" EP. While the upbeat "Two To Two Step" is already a setlist favorite, much of this project – as well as a goodly portion of Midland's catalog – is slower and much more thoughtful. It's all good, though, and "The Last Resort" is just another small chapter in Midland's growing book of fine songs. Listening to Midland can be a little like a scenario where the Eagles' ...
