Monroe completes chemo

Wednesday, December 15, 2021 – Ashley Monroe, who is also a member of Pistol Annies, completed chemotherapy on Wednesday morning for a blood cancer, she said on Facebook.

"Ring a ling a ling a ding dong ding...My last chemo is done!," Monroe posted on this morning. As is customary with chemo patients, he rang a bell signifying she had finished the treatment.

"Merry Christmas everyone. Thank you for praying for me. I felt them more than you know. I've never been more thankful. Ready to Come back like never before in 2022!"

Monroe, who released the disc "Rosegold" in April, disclosed on July 13 that she had cancer. She wrote on Facebook that she had "a rare kind of blood c word called "waldenstrom macroglobulinemia."

Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL). The cancer cells make large amounts of an abnormal protein. The cancer can have no effect on the person for years.

"It's causing my body to be pretty severely anemic, and I feel it. So, I start chemo tomorrow. Seems like such a negative thing to say. Until I flip that doom feeling on its head and think, wow, I'm thankful I have an illness that is VERY live with-able. I'm thankful there IS a treatment that actually works to fight what is causing harm to my body. THANKFUL for friends and family who have gathered around me praying and sending flowers and letting me lean on them during this super weird chapter of my life."

CD review - Hell Of A Holiday You just knew a Pistol Annies' holiday album would be a little bit twisted. Sometimes more "Merry Christmas from the Family" than, say, "Silent Night." Comprised of three song female voices – Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley – "Hell of a Holiday" is mostly the sound of a group that just wanna have fun during the Christmas season. The album opens with its title cut, where these women get revved up for Christmas over a pounding drum ...
CD review - The Blade Ashley Monroe gains more acclaim for other projects than she does for her own solo efforts. Monroe is one third of side group Pistol Annies. She sang with Blake Shelton on his hit "Lonely Tonight." She received praise for her first proper solo album (her ill-fated Satisfied" was released three years after its completion by her former label, Sony), "Like a Rose," in 2013, although that was a release that stood on the strength of the songs because three singles produced zero hits. ...
CD review - Annie Up For those who thought "Hell on Heels" was a one-off side project for Miranda Lambert (along with sidekicks Angaleena Presley and Ashley Monroe), think again. The Annies, aka "Lonestar Annie" (Lambert), "Hippie Annie" (Monroe), and "Holler Annie" (Presley), are no novelty act. Instead, they tackle material that you just are unlikely to hear on mainstream country radio both in subject matter and sonics. Like the debut, this one also makes it quite clear that ...
