Wallen, Nelson put out new music
The seemingly indefatigable Willie Nelson released "I Don't Know A Thing About Love" today on Legacy Recordings. The new disc is a 10-song tribute to late, greawt country songwriter Harlan Howard. Songs include "Tiger By The Tail," a hit for Buck Owens, "Life Turned Her That Way," "Streets of Baltimore" and "Busted." Featuring cover art by Micah Nelson (Willie's son), Buddy Cannon once again procued. The band on the album includes Willie Nelson (Trigger, lead vocals), Larry Paxton (bass, tic tac bass), Lonnie Wilson (drums), Bobby Terry (acoustic guitar, electric guitar), James Mitchell (electric guitar), Mike Johnson (steel guitar), Mickey Raphael (harmonica), Jim "Moose" Brown (piano, synthesizer, B3 organ, Wurlitzer), Wyatt Beard (background vocals) and Melonie Cannon (background vocals).
The Mavericks have released a 10th anniversary deluxe edition of "In Time" via The Valory Music Co. The record includes all 14 original tracks plus never-before-released single "Tonight Is The Night," the group's take on "Gentle On My Mind" and a conjunto version of "Ven Hacia Mi."
What started as a group text thread between Luke Laird, Lori McKenna and Barry Dean blossomed into an all-new collection of their works, together and apart. Today, the first of three volumes of Laird, McKenna, and Dean's "The Songwriter Tapes Vol. 1" was released by CN Records. The idea of the disc is that it reimagines songs that changed the lives and careers of these three writers plus songs that never made it onto the country airwaves. The first of these three volumes includes two tunes made famous by Tim McGraw ("Humble and Kind" sung by Dean), a big Kenny Chesney hit ("American Kids," sung by Lair) and a new song penned by all three writers ("Setlling In," performed by McKenna.
Tyler Braden is out with an EP, "Neon Grave," today on Warner. Braden had a hand in penning all six cuts, including one solo credit, with Randy Montana serving as producer. The current single is "Try Losing One." Braden grew up in Slapout, Ala. with parents who fostered an early appreciation for country music. He toured the southeast while a first responder in Montgomery, Ala. Braden continued firefighting in the suburbs of Nashville while pursuing a career. He signed with Warner and previously released an EP.
Fiddle player Michael Cleveland released his 12-track album, "Lovin' Of The Game," today via Compass Records. Cleveland's sixth studio album includes appearances from the likes of Béla Fleck, Billy Strings, Charlie Starr, Jeff White, The Travelin' McCourys and Vince Gill.
