Cash, Butts, Snell release. new music

Friday, June 28, 2024 – More than two decades after he passed away, Johnny Cash is out with "Songwriter" on Mercury Nashville/UMe. The release contains demo songs that Cash recorded in 1993. This was just before he met producer Rick Rubin, leading to a career resurgence for Cash. His son, John Carter Cash, a producer, put the unreleased songs to music and oversaw the release.

Kaitlin Butts' autobiographical 17-song LP "Roadrunner!," is out today via Soundly Music. The disc uses the hit musical, "Oklahoma," as a reference point for the songs. Songs include "Other Girls (Ain't Havin' Any Fun)," a song Butts co-wrote with Natalie Hemby.

Austin Snell is out with his debut disc on Warner Nashville, "Still Bleeding," featuring 13 tracks produced by Andrew Baylis. Snell combines countrty dwith a gritty sensibility, giving birth to what Snell aptly terms grunge-country. The release also includes "Pray All The Way Home."

This vintage concert offers a case in point. Recorded at the peak of his prowess, it finds him replaying his classic hits - "A Boy Named Sue," "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line" ...
