Johnson goes deluxe route with "Leather"

Friday, September 27, 2024 – Cody Johnson has announced his next studio project, "Leather Deluxe Edition," will be out on Nov. 1 with 13 new songs.

The deluxe album also includes all 12 tracks from "Leather," released last November.

The album's debut single "I'm Gonna Love You" with Carrie Underwood is making its world premiere with iHeart radio today and impacting country radio on Monday. CMT is broadcasting the debut of the official music video shot by director Dustin Haney. The video was filmed in Wells, Nev. and Nashville this summer. "I'm Gonna Love You" was written by Chris Stevens, Kelly Archer, and Travis Denning.

Johnson's latest number one single "Dirt Cheap," written by Josh Philips, took home the honor at last night's "People's Choice Country Awards" for Storyteller Song of The Year and "The Painter" was awarded as the NSAI 2024 Song of The Year for writers Benjy Davis, Kat Higgins and Ryan Larkins. CD reviews for Cody Johnson

CD review - A Cody Johnson Christmas "A Cody Johnson Christmas" is like one of those Christmas presents where, no matter how much you attempt to disguise it with wrapping, it's no surprise what's inside after it's opened. Then again, Cody Johnson Christmas music is something most every country music-loving fan should want, so the non-surprise factor is not a big disappointment. This 10-song album includes mostly familiar songs, including a traditional country arrangement of Willie Nelson's "Pretty Paper. ...
CD review - Ain't Nothin' To It It's not always easy to put your finger on why a particular artist moves you emotionally. It can be due to smart, Elvis Costello-like wordplay, or Vince Gill-esque instrumental greatness. Cody Johnson's "Ain't Nothin' To It" doesn't always shine with exemplary poetic couplets, nor striking musicianship. This is not to say the lyrics and music aren't bad, either. No, it's just that Johnson's authentic country voice is ultimately what makes the first ...
CD review - Gotta Be Me The sixth independent release from Southeast Texas singer/songwriter Cody Johnson is hit and miss. There are some good tunes that recall the '90s era work of George Strait, but there are some weak songs and most tracks are saddled with over-production from Trent Willmon. The opening title track is one of the stronger tunes, reminiscent not only of Strait, but a touch of Hank Williams as well, with Johnson proclaiming an affinity for past country legends ("I cut my teeth on/Those ...
