Ballerini, Kelley, Cauthen release new discs
Brian Kelley continues his solo career with "Ed & Mary Margaret's Son" on Big Machine Records. The release on Kelley's sophomore album contains a dozen songs.
Joe Nichols goes traditional with "Honky Tonks & Country Songs" on Quartz Hill Records. Produced by Mickey Jack Cones (Dustin Lynch, Thomas Rhett) and Derek George (Randy Houser), the release contains 11 songs. "Hard Fires," features a guest appearance from ACM-nominated group Runaway June's lead vocalist, Stevie Woodward. Nichols sings with Annie Bosko on "Better Than You."
Paul Cauthen makes his major label debut with "Black On Black" on Anemoia Records/Atlantic Records. The disc was written over the last several years during Cauthen's travels across America on his motorcycle and in the tour bus and largely recorded at Rosewood Studios in Cauthen's hometown of Tyler, Texas with longtime collaborator Jason Burt (John Mayer, Leon Bridges).
Chase Rice surprises with "Fireside Sessions," an album featuring all 25 songs from "I Hate Cowboys & All Dogs Go To Hell" and "Go Down Singin'" as live, single-take versions with cowriters including Lori McKenna, Jackson Dean, Hunter Phelps and Randy Montana.
Christian artist Anne Wilson/, who is trying to make a dent in the country market, is out with "Rebel (Live From Lexington)" on /UMG Nashville/Capitol Christian Music Group.The 10 songs were recorded in June in her home town of Lexington, Ky. The record features songs from her "Rebel" ell as her breakout hit "My Jesus." Wilson took home top honors with "Rebel" at the 55th annual GMA Dove Awards for Bluegrass / Country / Roots Album of the Year.
The Oak Ridge Boys are out with "Mama's Boys," via Lightning Rod/Thirty Tigers. This project marks their fifth collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb and was recorded at the RCA Studio A and Blackbird Studios in Nashville. The Oak Ridge Boys previously released "I Thought About You, Lord" featuring Willie Nelson from the album.
Lanie Gardner makes her debut with "A Songwriter's Diary" on BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. Gardner wrote all 10 songs on the disc. The Burnsville,, N.C. native first gained a foothold with her cover of Fleetewood Mac's "Dreams."
