HARDY, Ely release today

Friday, February 7, 2025 – HARDY's first-ever live album, "HARDY (Live From Red Rocks)," is out today on Big Loud Records. The 20-song set spanning HARDY's entire career was recorded live at HARDY's back-to-back, sold out shows at the Colorado amphitheater in October 2024, his first ever shows at the venue. The release features "ROCKSTAR," "ONE BEER," "REDNECKER," "wait in the truck" and his first ever recorded version of "God's Country," the hit he wrote for Blake Shelton.

Country veteran Joe Ely released his 29th solo album, "Love and Freedom," via Rack 'Em Records / Thirty Tigers. The disc features songs written by Ely as well as Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt and Woody Guthrie. Ely gets political on a few songs including Guthrie's "Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)," which features Ryan Bingham. Co-produced alongside frequent collaborator Lloyd Maines (Miranda Lambert, Kris Kristofferson), "Love and Freedom" unveils songs from Ely's recording vault from several decades at Spur Studios, his home studio facility. He first recorded these songs – with themes of immigration, poverty, war, justice, love, freedom and other social issues – during time spent off the road and brought them to Maines to polish them up for release.

CD review - the mockingbird & The CROW Although much has been made of the two HARDY personality traits revealed via "the mockingbird & THE CROW" album – part country, part hard rock – the more one listens to this extensive, 17-track album, the less musical style actually seems to matter. This is because we get to know HARDY's writing style well while listening to it, and he leaves a distinct, unique personal fingerprint with it. Even though he worked with co-writers for most of these tracks, they're ...
CD review - A Rock There's a special form of alchemy going on with certain country stars these days. Take some Goodwill Store fashion, electric guitar love and mix it with the simple life concerns of a down-home good 'ole boy. Grunge meets Country...Gruntry? Take Michael Wilson Hardy, for example. He's way more likely to look like he just worked on your car than just had his hair feathered. If he owns a 10-gallon hat, it's in the back of his closet with the tag still on it. ...
CD review - Where To Find Me There is a logical fallacy known as guilt by association. In the case of Hardy, it may be easy to harbor prejudice of Hardy because he's spent time writing songs with major bro country offenders, Florida Georgia Line. Hardy's "Where To Find Me" quickly and decisively puts any guilt by associations to rest with its opener, a beautiful country song called "I'll Quit Lovin' You," which is both smartly written and heartfelt. This project - his second EP - is ...
