Sweeney plays Country Throwdown main stage

Friday, May 18, 2012 – Sunny Sweeney will headline the Air National Guard Stage during the Country Throwdown Tour, which kicks off today in Mississippi.

"I am so honored to perform on the Air National Guard Stage. Being married to a police officer, I'm very aware of what our service people sacrifice on a daily basis. I can't wait to meet with members of the ANG and fans this summer," said Sweeney.

Gary Allan, Rodney Atkins, Justin Moore, Josh Thompson and Eric Paslay are on the tour.

In each city, Sweeney will sign autographs at the ANG booth. Sweeney also will perform a private, acoustic set and meet and greet on Sweeney's bus during several stops.

She will join other artists on the tour for the ANG Grateful States Campaign, which recognizes the ANG airmen and families through photos and videos posted online by citizens across the U.S.

Upcoming dates are:

May 18 Gulfport, MS Jones Park

May 19 Lampe, MO Black Oak Mountain Amphitheater

May 20 Bonner Springs, KS Cricket Wireless Amphitheater

May 26 Gilford, NH Meadowbrook US Cellular Pavilion

May 27 Bangor, ME Waterfront Park

Her debut release was shot through with that sensibility; based on this EP preview of her upcoming full-length, that is no longer the case, for good or ill. But then, to expect anything else would be naive. Sweeney is now on a major label, where success is measured in chart position and units moved; the fact that not one of the three singles from her first record, "Heartbreakers Hall of ...
