Jennifer Hanson cuts single, shoots video

Monday, June 4, 2007 – The lead single from Jennifer Hanson's second disc will be out later this month.

Hanson's CD, co-produced by the artist and Nick Brophy, and recorded in Nashville, is set for release early 2008.

A video also was shot for the single in Las Vegas at the suggestion of both Hanson's Universal South label and video director Trey Fanjoy. "This song is all about free spirit and a sense of adventure," Hanson, who co-wrote this song, as well as all of the tracks on the upcoming CD release, said. "What better way to illustrate adventure than on a long stretch of highway in the middle of the desert?"

Shot in the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada, the video shoot marked award winning director Fanjoy's return to directing following the birth of her child. The video also features Hanson's real life pal Tiffany Goss on the joyride adventure. But, according to Hanson, that's pretty much the extent of the "joy" in this ride. With temperatures hovering around the 100 degrees mark, shooting in the desert in the middle of the day was anything but a joy.

"You know, I always heard, don't worry, it's a 'dry' heat. Well, I am here to tell you that really doesn't mater," Hanson said. "Hot is still hot, whether it's dry or humid. But regardless of the temperature, we had a great time. It felt really good to be making a music video again, and preparing for a new single and CD. What's a little heat compared to the joy of getting ready to release new music? I can't wait to see what people think about this new song."

"Joyride" will premiere on CMT Top 20 June 7th and a few weeks later on GAC.

Hanson had a hit with her first single, "Beautiful Goodbye" in 2002 on Capitol.

CD review - Thankful When we last heard from Jennifer Hanson, she released her self-titled debut six years ago, garnering one semi-hit "Beautiful Goodbyes." Since then, the Californian's success has been on the songwriting front with "Leave the Pieces" for The Wreckers and "A Different World" for Bucky Covington. Hanson switched labels, but with two singles not burning up the charts, this release went digital only. As for the artistic merit here, Hanson still has a very pleasant ...
Born the daughter of a pro country musician and married to a country singer and songwriter, a music career must have seemed almost inevitable to Jennifer Hanson. Still, connections only count for so much, and Hanson's clearly not afraid of taking responsibility for her own work; on her debut CD, she not only sang but shared the producer's chair and co-wrote all but two songs. The first single, "Beautiful Goodbye," is a fair introduction to the collection. The song's rock edge and Hanson's ...
