Dan + Shay become "Obsessed"

Wednesday, April 20, 2016 – Dan + Shay announced today that they will release their sophomore album, "Obsessed," on June 3 as the follow up to their chart topping "Where It All Began" on Warner.

"The idea for the album title, "Obsessed," came directly from our fans," said Dan Smyers.

"Our fans know we live on social media both when we're in and out of the studio, and we started noticing that hashtag '#obsessed' being tagged in all our fans' posts when we first revealed our single, 'From The Ground Up,'" Shay Mooney said. "So when it came time to pick a title for this album, it seemed pretty appropriate that we're even more obsessed with making music for our fans than they are to hear it."

"From The Ground Up" was released last month as the first single. The song was written by the pair along with Chris DeStefano and co-produced by Smyers and Scott Hendricks.

"Where It All Began" produced three Top 40 singles, including the Platinum "19 You + Me."

Dan + Shay are currently on the road and will join Darius Rucker on his Good for a Good Time Tour this summer, kicking off on June 3 in Tampa, Fla.

CD review - Good Things With Rascal Flatts gone, the heir apparent to the breezy pop country throne, Dan +Shay has taken its rightful place. Each song was co-written and produced by Dan Smyers while Shay Mooney put his pen to eight tracks. One look at the credits, and you'll know which direction it will be headed. ...
CD review - Dan + Shay The track list on Dan +Shay's self-titled third album has a song crediting Kelly Clarkson as a featured vocalist. Upon a full listen, you will think they forgot about a few others. The disc features the duo's contemporary sound that mirrors many artists in the genre. The lead-off track, "Alone Together," evokes Rascal Flatts' Gary LeVox and is half of the only seven minutes on the tidy 35-minute collection that represent anything near up-tempo. CD review - Obssessed Dan Myers and James Shay Mooney came from different parts of the country (Allegheny County, Pa. and Arkansas, respectively) and met in Nashville where each was tracking the well-worn path to country music success. They began writing songs together a little over three years ago, already have a hit album ("Where It All Began") and now have another tiger by the tail. Dan + Shay know a hook, can write songs and have identified a sweet spot in the formula of country music success. ...
