Abbott cancels dates due to father's illness

Tuesday, February 28, 2017 – The Josh Abbott Band is off the road due to the serious illness of Abbott's father.

The Texas band was touring with the Randy Rogers Band.

Abbott, who gained acclaim with his "Front Row Seat" disc, posted on Twitter today, "Due to my father's debilitating due to a stroke almost 3 weeks ago, we were will not be touring this week or next week (March 1-12). Unless a miracle occurs, we fear this will be his last week here with us. Therefore, I need to be by his side, holding my mother's hand through it. I know you all understand, and we truly appreciate the prayers and kind comments you have all left."

Boston, DC & NYC shows will still be played by Randy Rogers Band & any other bands listed on the shows. PLEASE go see them and sing loud for me."

Rogers and band are slated to be in Boston on Wednesday.

This self-released effort shows maturity and confidence by remembering who they are and expanding their base at the same time. With the title cut, "Catching Fire," co-written by Abbott, serving as a bridge between their past musical exploration and their rootsy Texas sound, it is his distinctive voice ...
