Beathard becomes the "King"
Beathard began the 20-song effort with "Nobody's Everything."
"King" is a tribute to the middle name of Beathard's late brother, Clay, who was stabbed to death in downtown Nashville last year. Beathard served as co-producer, co-writer and lead guitar and drum credits throughout the 13-song set.
"For me music has always been a way to escape," said Beathard. "There's a lot of things people are dealing with internally that they don't have voices for right now, and I've learned that if I write from the heart, if I sing from experience, I can be that voice. Some people can't pinpoint what they're feeling, but they can hear a song and be like 'Damn, that's it,' and I hope I can help them get there with this record. These songs mean a lot to me and I feel really ready to share them with the world."

Following the independent release of "Nobody's Everything" in November 2018, Beathard signed a major recording deal with Warner Music Nashville. The son of songwriter Casey Beathard, Beathard was signed to Dot Records, a subsidiary of Big Machine Records in 2015 where he released his debut single, "Rock On," which gained some airplay. He released an EP, "Fight Like Hell," in 2016.
His relationship with Big Machine was turbulent. In November, 2017 Beathard said his debut, "Dear Someone," would be released two weeks later with 13 songs.
On Nov. 16, 2017 the night before his debut album for Dot Records was supposed to be released, Beathard announced that the album was postponed due to creative differences with his label.
Beathard then begin leaking demos on YouTube. Dot and Beathard split in January 2018. The two were in a year-long legal battle, which ended with Beathard releasing his album independently.
