Young, Gill/Franklin, Zimmerman, King Calaway release new albums

Friday, August 4, 2023 – Brett Young's fourth studio album, "Across The Sheets," is out now via BMLG Records. The eight-song project includes seven songs written by Young. The lone song he did not pen is the closing "Don't Take the Girl," a big hit for Tim McGraw. The current single is "Dance With You."

Vince Gill and pedal steel great Paul Franklin joined forces for "Sweet Memories: The Music Of Ray Price & The Cherokee Cowboys." Among the songs are One More Time," written by Mel Tillis; "The Same Two Lips" by Marty Robbins, "Weary Blues from Waitin'" by Hank Williams Sr. and "Healing Hands Of Time" composed by Willie Nelson.

Bailey Zimmerman, who made a mark with his debut, "Religiously," has a surprise release: "Religiously. The Acoustic Sessions." The EP contains five stripped-down tracks from his full-length project. The original disc came out in May and contains the 2x-Platinum single "Fall in Love" and "Rock and a Hard Place." The acoustic release contains the title track, "You Don't Want That Smoke," "Warzone," Chase Her" and "Fadeaway."

Four years after arriving with their debut project "Rivers," Stoney Creek Records' King Calaway releases its 16-track sophomore album "Tennessee's Waiting." With seven of the tracks produced by Zac Brown, and featuring collaborations with Marcus King, ACM winner Hailey Whitters and Brown on the previously released track, "When I Get Home," the band combines blues, rock and country influences.

CD review - Brett Young & Friends Sing The Christmas Classics Brett Young's Christmas EP is a strange little thing. Like many holiday project creators, Young prefers to look backwards, rather than forward. Hence the phrase 'Christmas Classics' in the album title. You also might come away feeling decidedly Scrooge-y about it. It's strange, however, ...
CD review - Weekends Look a Little Different These Days It's troubling after listening to an album multiple times in a row, to not have even one song stick in one's memory. However, this is an honest initial response to Brett Young's "Weekends Look A Little Different These Days." It's not so much that the music on Young's eight-song effort is bad; it's just so utterly unremarkable. Appreciation of Young's music rises and falls with what you think about his singing style. He sounds a little like Gary LeVox, ...
CD review - King Calaway EP Country music has long been identified as the sound of the rural south, drawing it's sound from the hollows of Tennessee or the long dusty roads of Texas. But the sound transcends borders and more and more international artists have taken up the country baton. Newcomers King Calaway are a mixture of the best of both worlds, showcasing U.S. born members alongside an eclectic international cast. The sextet boasts standout resumes, featuring everything from American Idol golden tickets, BBC and ...
